WHAT IS DISTANCE COUNSELING?

Also known as Telemental Health, Distance Counseling is a new and exciting way to combine psychotherapy and technology in order to offer counseling services to clients who are unable to travel to our office. We are fully encrypted and HIPAA compliant, which means that we follow the strictest guidelines in protecting your PHI (public health information).

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO USE DISTANCE COUNSELING?

Anyone who has access to a private internet connection, is comfortable using, or willing to learn how to utilize the required software, and has a need for counseling, is eligible for Distance Counseling. Some insurance providers offer reimbursement for these services, and some do not. You will need to check with your insurance company to determine what their reimbursement rates are for Telemental Health Services.

WHY IS DISTANCE COUNSELING BECOMING MORE POPULAR?

We live in a very busy world, and sometimes it is just not convenient, or possible, to make it to our office. Students who are traveling within Ohio, parents who may have to stay home with a sick child, clients recovering from injury, or people with extreme circumstances that make it too difficult to leave home, etc., can now benefit from Distance Counseling.

WHERE CAN DISTANCE COUNSELING OCCUR?

Anywhere you have access to a private internet connection that is safe and free from distraction is acceptable to receive Distance Counseling.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Speak with your therapist about scheduling your first session as a face-to-face session, so that we can walk you through the technological steps required to get started, help you to complete all the paperwork, and answer any other questions you may have.
